Common Golf Injuries
Since all our bodies are different and we have different swings while golfing, there are many different types of injuries that can happen. However, we’ll now look at some of the most common golf injuries out there:
A herniated disc, or slipped disc, is a very common injury in golf. This problem deals with the rubbery discs found between your spinal bones. A slipped disc happens when the soft center of your disc pushes through a crack in the much tougher outer casing. While some people can experience no symptoms at all, others can have very painful experiences, especially if the herniated disc irritates nerves located nearby.
A bulging disc that is sometimes referred to as a protruding disc, is a common spinal problem that involves the fluid in a disc that pushes out onto the weakest part of the disc. This causes an outward swelling of the fluid material and, in many cases, the disc balloons between spaces located in the vertebrae. This process occurs over a long period of time, but it’s important to treat the area ASAP as it can become much worse if left untreated.
This issue can cause a lot of pain and discomfort in the elbow and the surrounding area. The official name for golfer’s elbow is called tendonitis, which can cause soreness, inflammation, and pain. This discomfort can either be found in the inner or outer tendons of the elbow. This problem is caused by overuse or strain of these muscles, which typically happens from swinging the club too often or incorrectly.
